New president at N. Shore Community College

Janice Forsstrom, new interim president of North Shore Community College.

Wayne M. Burton, president of North Shore Community College, is set to retire on July 31 and his successor is a veteran administrator at the Danvers, Mass.-based school, the college announced Tuesday in a press release.

The college has named Janice M. Forsstrom, currently vice president of administration and finance, as its interim president, starting Aug. 1. Forsstrom has worked there for 39 years and she will serve in Burton's place until a permanent replacement is found.

North Shore Community College is conducting a nationwide search and expects to have final candidates on campus for visits in September, the press release said.

Forsstrom started at the college in 1974, working in the grants office, and was named a vice president in 2003. In her current role, she oversees the college?s $50 million annual operating budget and its three campus locations, including Danvers, Lynn, and the Institute for Corporate Training in Beverly.

Among Forsstrom's expertise is her ability to position North Shore Community College as a school featuring technological advancements and best practices on its campuses, the press release said.
